Description

An antique brass letter holder featuring the Cheshire Cat and the county crest of Cheshire, probably dating from the Edwardian period in the early 20th century. The design combines two enduring symbols of British heritage: the smiling Cheshire Cat from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and the county emblem with its three wheat-sheaves.

Beautifully cast in solid brass with a warm natural patina, this piece would once have sat on a desk or writing table to hold letters and notes. The figure of the standing Cheshire Cat gives it a distinctive and whimsical character, while the heraldic crest adds a touch of traditional craftsmanship typical of the period.

While originally designed as a letter holder, it also works beautifully as a napkin holder or paper organiser on a mid-century or vintage-style table. A rare and decorative find that brings together literary charm and English county pride, perfect for adding personality to a study, library or dining space.
