This beautifully preserved pair by Coalport includes a lidded soap dish and a matching toothbrush holder, both decorated with vibrant floral sprays and finished with delicate red accents. With their softly scalloped shapes and raised feet, they reflect the refined detailing found in late Victorian to Edwardian ceramics.

Founded in 1750 in Shropshire, Coalport is one of England’s oldest and most respected porcelain manufacturers. The company became known in the 19th century for producing fine bone china with richly detailed decoration, often exported across Europe and beyond. By the late Victorian and Edwardian periods, Coalport was offering both formal and everyday porcelain, admired for its refined designs and quality craftsmanship. The backstamp on this set, which reads simply “England” without “Made in England,” helps date these pieces to around 1891–1915, a detail that reflects their place in the company’s long heritage and the changing customs of British domestic life.

These pieces were originally part of a larger ceramic washstand set, commonly found in British bedrooms and dressing rooms before indoor plumbing became widespread. Larger sets included a jug and basin, chamber pot, and small accessories like these, each designed to bring a touch of refinement to daily routines.
