Description

This exceptionally rare Staffordshire spaniel jug, dating from the c.1850s, is distinguished by its unusual side-handled form, a variation scarcely ever seen. It stands apart from the more familiar begging spaniel jugs with handles at the back, giving it a distinctive silhouette and an expressive presence that immediately draws the eye.

There is an old restoration to the rim where the original section has been rejoined (Please see photos), leaving the jug stable. More than simply a piece of Staffordshire history, it has the kind of individuality that brings depth and quiet drama to an interior. Styled with dried or silk flowers, it becomes a statement that blends heritage with timeless charm, making it a remarkable accent in any carefully curated space.
