Product Description:
This elegant teacup, saucer and plate set was produced by The Foley China to commemorate Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee in 1897, marking 60 years of her reign. Designed as a piece of royal memorabilia, it features the official Royal Coat of Arms and decorative gilding in a delicate, Victorian style.
The front of the cup and saucer displays the crest with the inscription “Longest and Most Glorious Reign” above, and “1837 Long Victoria Live 1897” below — a wonderfully expressive tribute that captures the celebratory spirit of the time. On the reverse, a soft floral motif in pink and green adds contrast and charm, creating a set that is both stately and romantic.
Crafted from fine bone china, all three pieces are shaped with a fluted body and gently scalloped rims, a form much loved in Victorian-era tableware for its elegance and tactile quality. The design was officially registered in the UK, and the reverse of each piece is clearly marked with the Foley China backstamp and British Registration Number Rd No. 290093, confirming its production in the Jubilee year.
At over 125 years old, this set has survived in remarkably good condition. A beautiful addition to any collection of royal memorabilia or antique English porcelain — ideal for display, gifting, or simply enjoying with afternoon tea.
The Foley China Company, established in 1850 in Staffordshire, later purchased Coalport China in 1958. Coalport was subsequently acquired by Wedgwood in 1967, placing this piece within a distinguished lineage of British ceramics.
