Description:

A rare and sophisticated set of three commemorative jugs made by Royal Worcester to mark the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II on 2 June 1953. Crafted in fine bone china, each jug features a delicately printed portrait of the young Queen, surrounded by classical motifs that celebrate the new reign with elegance and grace.

The reverse shows winged figures symbolising Victory and Peace, while the inner rim is inscribed “Coronation June 2 1953”, a subtle and beautiful finishing touch. The spout is modelled in the form of a classical mask, adding a sculptural accent characteristic of Royal Worcester’s refined craftsmanship.

This graduated trio of jugs in small, medium, and large sizes was produced in smaller quantities than most Coronation ware and is now rarely found as a complete matching set. Made to commemorate the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, whose reign became the longest in British history, the set represents a moment of national celebration and fine craftsmanship. In another quarter of a century, these 1953 pieces will themselves be regarded as antiques, a meaningful heirloom to be treasured and passed on to the next generation.
