Product Description

A charming assembled set of six vintage trinket dishes from Royal Crown Derby’s much-loved Derby Posies collection. Each dish is decorated with a colourful arrangement of roses and delicate garden flowers in shades of pink, purple, yellow, blue and red, creating the impression of six freshly gathered posies.

Although united by the same pattern, shape and decorative border, each dish features its own individual floral arrangement. The softly scalloped form is framed by an elegant geometric border and finely applied gilt detailing, giving the set a beautifully coordinated yet varied appearance.

Perfect for serving chocolates, petits fours or small sweets when entertaining, the dishes could also be placed around the home for rings, jewellery, coins and other small treasures. Displayed together or arranged individually, their cheerful floral decoration brings timeless English charm to a table, dressing table, shelf or display cabinet.

Royal Crown Derby has been producing fine English porcelain in Derby since the eighteenth century and is celebrated for its richly decorated tableware and ornamental pieces. Derby Posies became one of the company’s best-known floral patterns, admired for its colourful bouquets and enduring English style.

The dishes were produced in different years, as confirmed by the Roman-numeral date ciphers on their backstamps. The set comprises:

  • One dish made in 1967, marked XXX
  • One dish made in 1969, marked XXXII
  • One dish made in 1975, marked XXXVIII
  • One dish made in 1977, marked XL
  • Two dishes made in 1992, marked LV

Spanning more than two decades of Royal Crown Derby production, the differing backstamps and subtle variations in the floral decoration offer a fascinating glimpse into the history and evolution of the Derby Posies collection. These differences are part of the set’s special appeal, particularly for collectors and admirers of English bone china.
