Product Description:

A charming Susie Cooper coffee pot and matching toaster rack in the elegant turquoise banded pattern, produced at Crown Works, Burslem in the late 1930s. This coordinated set, marked with pattern number 1579, reflects Susie Cooper’s modern, minimalist approach to design during her most celebrated pre-war period.

The banded decoration, simple yet striking, is one of Cooper’s signature styles — designed to be both functional and beautiful, perfectly in tune with the ideals of the emerging modern home. The soft turquoise against a warm cream glaze gives this set a timeless, understated appeal. The coloured bands were likely applied by hand using a wheel-turned technique, adding a subtle variation and charm to each piece. Even the handle features a refined strip-like detail, adding a subtle design element that reflects Cooper’s modernist sensibility.

With its compact size and clean lines, the coffee pot is perfect for a small table setting or as a decorative piece. The matching toast rack is a rare addition, making this set especially collectible.

Condition:

Good vintage condition overall. There is a small chip on the underside of the coffee pot lid, which is not visible when the lid is in place, and a tiny chip just inside the rim of the pot. Both are minor and do not detract from the charm or usability of the set. Light age-related wear to the glaze as expected. Clean and full of the timeless character that defines Susie Cooper’s work.
