Product Description
A wonderfully cheerful and rare vintage teapot by Arthur Wood, England, designed around a bold “Good Luck” theme. This novelty teapot features a black cat sitting on playing cards — a traditional British symbol of luck — and a bouquet, boots, and golden horseshoe motif on the reverse. The lid is topped with a four-leaf clover, completing the charming ensemble of lucky emblems.
Charming hand-painted touches — from the red hat and green background to the gold gilding — give this teapot its own cheerful personality, with a slightly different character on each piece. The base is sweetly impressed with the word “LUCKY” alongside “ENGLAND” — a delightful final detail that reflects the optimistic spirit of the design.
Arthur Wood was founded in 1895 in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire — a region renowned for its pottery expertise. The company became widely recognised for its teapots and novelty ceramics, known for their playful designs and quality craftsmanship, and their pieces remain highly collectable today.
Made in the 1950s–60s, this teapot is a joyful example of British mid-century novelty pottery. Whether styled in a vintage kitchen, given as a gift to a cat lover, or treasured by collectors of Arthur Wood or good luck memorabilia, it brings a touch of fun and character to any space.
And who knows — with its golden horseshoe and cheerful charm, it might even bring a little extra luck to your day!
