Product Description:

This charming vintage framed print features a cat illustration by Randolph Caldecott (1846–1886), one of England’s most celebrated Victorian illustrators. The scene is taken from The House That Jack Built, one of his most famous picture books originally published by Frederick Warne & Co. in the late 19th century.

Caldecott’s lively and expressive drawings here, showing a curious cat full of character transformed the world of children’s book illustration, influencing generations of artists that followed, including Beatrix Potter. By 1884, sales of his twelve Nursery Rhymes books had reached nearly a million copies, earning him international acclaim and a place among the great illustrators of the Victorian era.

Believed to have been printed and framed around the mid-20th century, this piece retains the warmth and nostalgic appeal of Caldecott’s original artwork. The wooden frame has developed a beautiful aged patina, adding an authentic vintage touch.
