This print by Cecil Aldin, probably dating from around 1910, captures a charming scene from Charles Dickens’ Pickwick Papers. Known especially for his much-loved dog illustrations, Cecil Aldin also brought great character to other animals, and this print is particularly appealing for its black cat. It holds both literary and decorative appeal, and remains a wonderful example of early 20th-century printed illustration.

The picture mount and frame have been meticulously crafted to complement the lithograph, with detailed information about the artwork printed underneath, indicating its copyright by R. Wyman & Co. London. Notably, the National Trust owns an identical framed print, underscoring its significance and collectability.
