Product Description
A beautiful shell-shaped dish from Wedgwood’s much-loved Kutani Crane collection. Colourful birds are pictured among peonies, bamboo and flowering branches, surrounded by delicate floral sprays and finished with a fine gilt rim.
The sculptural shell shape gives this piece an especially decorative quality. Shell-shaped homeware is currently enjoying renewed popularity, and this elegant vintage example would work beautifully in both classic and contemporary interiors.
Perfect for holding jewellery, rings or other small treasures on a dressing table or bedside table, it could also be used as a decorative soap dish or simply displayed on a shelf.
Founded by Josiah Wedgwood in Staffordshire in 1759, Wedgwood is one of Britain’s most celebrated pottery manufacturers. The Kutani Crane pattern was introduced in 1971 and remained in production until 1998. Inspired by traditional Japanese Kutani decoration, it combines colourful birds and flowers with the refinement of English bone china.
The reverse carries the original Wedgwood “Bone China, Made in England, Kutani Crane” backstamp.
